On March 18, track laying commenced on the Yunnan section of the Chongqing-Kunming High Speed Railway, a key component of the Beijing-Kunming High Speed Railway Corridor. The Chongqing-Kunming High Speed Railway starts from Chongqingxi Railway Station, passes through Chongqing municipality, Sichuan province, Guizhou province and Yunnan province, and ends at Kunmingnan Railway Station, covering a total length of approximately 700 kilometers, of which the Yunnan section spans 388.6 kilometers. Once fully operational, the travel time from Chongqing to Kunming will be reduced to approximately two and a half hours, playing a significant role in promoting connectivity between the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the central Yunnan urban agglomeration, and boosting economic development along the route.
